What we do

Fewer tools.
Better tools.

Some platforms boast 100-plus tools. Open them up and you find the same prompt box with a different label slapped on it. We’ve gone the other way: a refined and curated list of genuinely different tools, each one built from the floor up for UK primary classrooms. We commit to building more and building better — but never padding.

What “better” means

Depth that shows up in the output.

The difference shows up in the file you download, not the marketing copy. Every Tandem tool comes with three things by default. Not as add-ons.

Curriculum on every prompt

Year group selected? We pull the relevant National Curriculum statements straight into the prompt. Reading band, vocabulary expectations, grammar progression, all there. The model isn’t guessing what Year 3 looks like; it’s reading the spec.

Eight safety checks, not zero

Generic AI tools pass your prompt straight through to a model and hand back whatever comes out. We don’t. Every input is checked, every output is checked, every flag is logged. We exceed UK government AI guidance on purpose. See how it works.

Refine, edit, save: the loop teachers actually use

First-draft AI is rarely the final answer. Every tool gives you up to four refinements with full teacher edits and versioning then save to your library. The teacher always has the last word.

Classroom-facing tools

Resources, ready in a coffee break.

Each tool below does something genuinely different. We could rebrand Reading Comprehension five times and call it six tools. Other platforms do that. We don’t. The list is curated, and grows when we have something genuinely new to ship.

Reading Comprehension

A curriculum-aligned passage in seconds. Fiction, non-fiction, poetry. Retrieval, inference, vocabulary; the question types you’d set anyway. Calibrated to year group and the ability stripe within it.

Model Text Generator

Exemplar writing for any genre. Drops straight into shared writing, WAGOLL displays or a teaching sequence that needs a clean “here’s what good looks like” piece.

Discussion Prompts

Open-ended discussion questions for whole-class or small-group work. Mail yourself the link direct from the platform, open it on the IWB, no login needed. Built for opinion and reasoning, not fact retrieval.

Comprehension questions generator

Bring your own text and paste it in or else generate one to your specifications and have the AI draft thoughtful, focused questions for you, calibrated to year group and ability tier.

Vocabulary in Context

Pulls challenging vocabulary from any text and produces in-context definitions, synonyms, and example sentences. Useful for pre-teaching or daily review.

Number Solve

60+ question types, all teacher-reviewed and filtered by year group and ability band. The maths algorithm is built by our engineers working alongside primary teachers, not generated by AI. So no hallucinations, no wrong sums, ever. Open it on the IWB, no login needed.

Teacher admin tools

The bits that give you your evenings back.

Sign-off slips, reports, parent letters… The work that happens after the children leave. Same curriculum-grade craft as everything else we ship.

School Report Writer

The end-of-term report that used to take a fortnight, done in an evening. Set up a template once, then generate personalised, curriculum-grounded reports per child. Proper pronoun handling, EYFS support, your real assessment data folded in. Pupil names and personal data stay in your browser: never our servers, never the AI. The tool teachers tell us makes Tandem worth the subscription on its own.

Parent Letter

Tone-matched, school-branded letters home, drafted in seconds. Sport notices, pastoral notes, invitations to meet and discuss... all the tricky ones first. Pupil names stay in your browser. Copy or print, never saved on our side.

More coming. Times Table Practice is next on the roadmap.

Common questions

Everything teachers ask before they sign up.

Is Tandem Teach different from ChatGPT?

Yes — in the parts that matter for a primary classroom. ChatGPT is a general-purpose chat tool. Tandem Teach is a structured workbench: every tool comes with curriculum alignment, year-group calibration, an eight-layer safety pipeline and a refinement loop designed for teachers. You don’t prompt-engineer your way there. It’s built in.

How is this different from competitors offering hundreds of tools?

We’re honest about what counts as a different tool. A reading comprehension generator and a poetry generator built on the same prompt template aren’t two tools — they’re one tool with two buttons. We’d rather offer a handful of genuinely different tools than dozens of relabelled wrappers. The reports tool, for example, isn’t something a generic prompt box can do at all.

Which UK curriculum do you support?

England National Curriculum 2014 is fully covered for English, Mathematics, Science, History and Geography across Years 1–6, with more subjects on the way. Scotland (Curriculum for Excellence) and Wales come next — we’re adding curriculum content for both. EYFS reporting is fully supported. Reception coverage across our other tools is being added.

What happens to my data — and my pupils’ data?

Pupil safety is the floor we build on. Pupil names and any other personal data never leave your browser — our tools replace them with generic placeholders before any request reaches our servers, so nothing pupil-identifying is ever sent to an AI provider. Ever.

Your teacher account data is GDPR-protected. We do not train AI models on your prompts, your generated content or anything you save in your library. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. Audit trails of how each tool was used are kept for one year because UK regulations require it — and your name and email are removed even within the audit trail.

Generated content belongs to you. Edit it, save it, export it, delete it — your call. See our Privacy Policy and Safety Standards for the full detail.

Can children use Tandem Teach?

No. Tandem Teach is built for teachers, tutors and school administrators. It is not designed for, or accessible to, children. Generated content should always be reviewed by an adult before being used or shared with pupils. We’re explicit about this because it shapes everything we build — pupil safety is the floor, not a feature.

What happens after my free trial?

You’ve got 30 days to try every tool with 300 free credits. If you’d like to keep going, choose a paid plan and your library carries forward. If you decide we’re not for you, just walk away — there’s a 30-day read-only window after the trial ends so you can save anything you’d like to keep, then your account is removed automatically.

What does it cost?

Your free trial starts with 300 credits, no charge until you actively choose a plan. The card we capture at signup sits idle unless and until you upgrade.

At launch, the paid option is our £5 Season Pass — a one-time payment for full access through to 15 September 2026, plus a permanent Charter Member badge for the founding cohort. Limited to the first 2,000 sign-ups.

A monthly subscription (£7.99 per 30 days) is on its way later this year — not available at launch. Full pricing here.

What if Tandem Teach is blocked at my school?

Most schools use a web filter that decides which sites are reachable from the school network. We’re actively working with the major UK school firewall and filter providers to be categorised as a safe, education-relevant tool — one provider has already given us the green light; others are still under review. If Tandem Teach turns out to be blocked at your school, drop us a line — we’ll work with you and your school’s IT team to get it unblocked.

I want my whole school to use Tandem Teach — what are the options?

Each individual subscription is for one teacher; sharing a login isn’t supported. School and multi-academy plans aren’t live yet at launch, but they’re coming. If your school is interested, drop us a line — we’ll let you know as soon as group plans are ready, and we’ll honour Charter Member pricing for the first batch.

See the difference for yourself.
