# Tandem Teach

> Tandem Teach is an AI-assisted teaching workbench for UK primary school teachers. It generates curriculum-aligned content (reading comprehension, model texts, discussion prompts, vocabulary work, school reports, parent letters, and deterministic maths cards) with an eight-layer safety pipeline that exceeds UK government AI guidance.

Tandem Teach is owned and operated by Classroom Secrets Limited (UK company number 08401067), based at Drakes Industrial Estate, Shay Lane, Halifax, HX3 6RL. The product is built specifically for the UK primary education market (Years 1–6, EYFS). The platform is for teachers, tutors, and school administrators; it is not designed for, or accessible to, children.

Generated content is always reviewed by the teacher before use. The platform refuses to make automated decisions about pupils that have legal or similarly significant effects. We do not use customer prompts or generated outputs to train AI models. We do not sell customer data.

## What Tandem Teach is — and isn't

- **Is:** a structured workbench of teacher tools, each one curriculum-injected, year-group calibrated, safety-checked, and refinable.
- **Is not:** a generic AI chat interface. We don't ship "hundreds of tools" by relabelling the same prompt template — we ship a small number of genuinely different tools, and add new ones only when they're genuinely different.

## Curriculum coverage

- **England National Curriculum 2014** — fully populated for English, Mathematics, Science, History, and Geography across Years 1–6 at launch. Other subjects are being added.
- **Scotland (Curriculum for Excellence)** and **Wales** — seeded as shells; curriculum content is being populated.
- **EYFS** — reporting tool fully supported (Early Years Statutory Framework). Reception across non-report tools is post-MVP.
- **MFL (French / German as separate languages)** — on the roadmap; current behaviour is one combined "Modern Foreign Languages" bucket which will be split before private-school MFL rollout.

## Pricing (May 2026)

- **Free trial:** 300 credits, one-time, on signup. Card is captured at signup, but never charged unless a plan is chosen. Every tool unlocked. Cancel any time.
- **Individual Monthly:** £7.99 per 30-day cycle. 3,000 credits per cycle. Every tool unlocked. Cancel any time, 30-day wind-down.
- **Season Pass (Charter Member):** £5 one-time, available until 30 November 2026, capped at the first 2,000 sign-ups. 3,000 credits per 30-day cycle through to 30 November 2026, then it ends. A permanent **Charter Member badge** recognises our founding cohort across the platform.

Cancellations enter a **30-day read-only window** so teachers can save anything they need. After the window the account is anonymised (logs retained for 1 year per regulatory retention; personal identifiers removed). School and multi-academy plans are not yet live — interested schools should register interest via the contact page.

- **Discussion Prompts** — Open-ended discussion questions for whole-class or small-group work. Built for opinion and reasoning, not fact retrieval. Mailable IWB-ready display link (no login needed to project in the classroom).
- **Vocabulary in Context** — Pulls challenging vocabulary from any text and produces in-context definitions, synonyms, and example sentences. Useful for pre-teaching or daily review.
- **Number Solve** — Deterministic IWB-ready maths cards. 60+ teacher-reviewed question types, filtered by year group and ability. **No AI in the generation path** — built by engineers working with primary teachers, so no hallucinations and no wrong sums. Mailable display link.
- **School Report Writer** — End-of-term reports for EYFS and Years 1–6. Curriculum-grounded subject statements, full pronoun handling (he/she/they, with a one-click rewrite at any time), EYFS framework support, your real assessment data folded in. **Pupil names and personal data stay in the teacher's browser** — never sent to our servers or to the AI.
- **Parent Letter** — Tone-matched, school-branded letters home: pastoral notes, feedback, behaviour follow-ups, meeting invitations, sport notices. **Ephemeral by design** — never saved server-side, copy or print only. Pupil names stay in-browser.
- **Trip Letter** — Same ephemeral, browser-only model as Parent Letter, specialised for school-trip notices and consent flows.

Content safety reports can also be filed from inside the platform — every generated output has a one-click Report button. Reports are read by a real person within two working days.

## Safety posture

Every generation runs through an **eight-layer pipeline** before reaching the user. The first six layers are automatic and invisible; the last two keep the system honest.

1. **Validation** — structured inputs (year-group pickers, dropdowns, checkboxes) wherever possible, instead of free text. Obvious personal data is stripped before the request leaves the browser.
2. **Topic blocklist** — year-group-aware list of off-limits, on-hold, and restricted topics. Every block has a documented reason and pre-approved teacher messaging.
3. **Pre-checks** — semantic coherence: does this combination of tool, year group, and curriculum make sense at all? Asking for a poem about kindness passes; asking for content that wouldn't fit a primary classroom, even when the words look innocent, stops here.
4. **Screening** — three independent moderation services from three different GDPR-compliant providers on every input. Includes jailbreak protection and semantic validation.
5. **Guardrails** — locked, conservative system prompts unique per tool. Written by us, not editable by users. Year-group calibration, curriculum alignment, and "if uncertain, err on caution" baked in.
6. **Re-screening** — same safety services re-check every output. Anything that drifted in generation is caught here, before display.
7. **Oversight** — mandatory teacher-review notice on every output, one-click report button, three-level kill switches (single tool, whole topic, whole platform).
8. **Auditing** — every request and safety decision logged for twelve months (anonymised). Pattern detection on flags, real-time health monitoring on every safety service.

### What this means in practice

- **Beyond UK government guidance.** We meet every requirement in the UK government's "Generative AI: product safety expectations" — documented risk pipeline, default human oversight, model-fallback transparency, GDPR-by-default data handling, child safety as non-negotiable — and exceed each one. The safety stack adds roughly 10–12 seconds to generation versus generic AI tools. We accept that trade-off; children read this content.
- **AI provider redundancy.** Claude (Anthropic) is our primary AI; if the primary is unavailable, generation automatically falls back to Mistral, so an outage at one provider does not take the platform down.
- **Data residency.** Data stored within the UK and EEA on AWS infrastructure. Payment data handled by Stripe.
- **No training on customer content.** We do not use prompts, uploads, generated outputs, or saved resources to train AI models. AI providers are contractually restricted from doing so.
- **No automated decisions about pupils.** Generated content must always be reviewed by a teacher. The platform must not be used to make automated decisions about pupils that have legal or similarly significant effects.
- **Reports go to a person, not a queue.** Every output ships with a Report button. Each report is read by a real human within two working days, and feeds back into the safety system so the same issue doesn't recur.
- **No PII in the AI path.** Pupil names and personal data stay in the teacher's browser. Names are replaced with generic placeholders client-side before submission, both to our servers and to any AI provider.
- **Account wipe is anonymisation, not deletion.** To meet 1-year regulatory retention, account wipe anonymises the audit record — personal identifiers are removed, the safety-audit shape remains.

## Common questions

**Is Tandem Teach different from ChatGPT?**
Yes, in the parts that matter for a primary classroom. ChatGPT is a general-purpose chat tool. Tandem Teach is a structured workbench: every tool ships with curriculum injection, year-group calibration, an eight-layer safety pipeline, and a refinement loop designed for teachers. No prompt engineering required.

**How is this different from competitors offering "100+ tools"?**
We're honest about what counts as a different tool. A reading-comprehension generator and a poetry generator with the same prompt template aren't two tools — they're one tool with two buttons. We'd rather ship a handful of genuinely different tools than dozens of relabelled wrappers.

**Which UK curricula are supported?**
England National Curriculum 2014 is fully populated for English, Mathematics, Science, History and Geography across Years 1–6. Scotland (CfE) and Wales are shells with content being populated. EYFS reporting is supported. Reception across non-report tools is on the post-MVP list.

**What happens to my data?**
We do not train AI on prompts or generated content. We do not sell your data. Generated content is yours — edit, save, export, or delete it.

**Can pupils use Tandem Teach directly?**
No. Tandem Teach is for teachers, tutors and school administrators. It is not designed for, or accessible to, children. Generated content should always be reviewed by an adult before being used or shared with pupils.

**Are you GDPR compliant?**
Yes. Operated by Classroom Secrets Ltd in the UK, fully compliant with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

**Where is data stored?**
Within the UK and EEA, on AWS. Payments via Stripe.

**How does cancellation work?**
Sign in → Account → Subscription → Cancel. Access continues to the end of the current billing cycle, then a 30-day read-only wind-down so teachers can save anything they need. The account is then anonymised; identifying details are removed, audit logs retained.

**Can I share my account with a colleague?**
No. Each subscription is for one teacher. School and multi-academy plans are coming; register interest at hello@tandemteach.ai.

**What if a generation produces something inappropriate?**
Every generated piece of content has a Report button. Reports come straight to our team and are reviewed within two working days. Every step of every generation is logged for a year, so we can fully audit what happened and why.

**Do you use Google Analytics or other tracking cookies?**
Only with your explicit consent. The default state is no analytics and no tracking cookies — opt-in via our cookie banner is required before any tracker loads. The only cookie set automatically is a same-session log-in cookie used purely to keep you signed in — it can't be used for tracking and never leaves your browser beyond your own session. If you opt in, we load Google Analytics and Zoho PageSense for aggregate usage analytics only — never linked to individual content or pupil information. Cookie preferences can be changed at any time from the footer.

**What happens if you have a security incident?**
Standard UK GDPR breach-notification practice: affected users and the ICO notified within 72 hours where the threshold is met. Incident response and on-call escalation are documented internally.

## What we don't do

- We do not let pupil PII reach our servers or our AI providers.
- We do not let unsafe content through to the teacher — eight checks stand between any output and the classroom, and they are non-negotiable even at the cost of ~10–12 seconds per generation.
- We do not relabel one prompt template as multiple "tools" to inflate the feature list.
- We do not save Parent Letter or Trip Letter output server-side — those tools are ephemeral, browser-only, copy or print.
- We do not train AI on customer content, and we do not sell customer data.
